FFFFF***********CCCCCCKKK!

It didn’t occur to me until I heard it, but Lost in the Post by the Wombats is most likely a parody of Stevie Wonder’s Sign, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.

The connection? Unlike Wonder’s version, the letter gets lost in the post in The Wombats version. Take a listen.

Sickly

without comments

I think my breathing problems in the library were being attributed by a cold that’s coming on. I woke up today with a sore throat and it lingered most of the day. It was unfortunate because I had a debate to give. Speaking of which, supposedly the professor was amazed at our stance but thought it undermined the underlying issue. I felt like we did a good job for what time we put into it. We took security in a more broad sense, and it made it hard to even argue against our position….which was really good and but kind of bad the professor said.

Oh man…. I made a joke about whiskey curing a soar throat. I got 26 minutes until bar close.

Song Recommendations

without comments

Every so often I get a strong urge through music. I’m usually one who plays a cd until the thing wears out. While I’m not one who (for lack of a better word) dedicates himself to music like a couple of my friends, I do however, enjoy a good song. I have been making a habit of using my phone to write down songs I hear throughout the day. Its nice when at work because we listen to radio.aol.com, so we have a whole slew of stations to choose from. Most of my coworkers like to listen to the old rock, maybe sometimes the pop stations. All fine by me, but once everyone leaves for the day, I usually have a few hours left to switch it on over to the indie stations.

So far, here are some of the songs that were recommended to me and/or I heard.

1. The Wombats - Joy of Division

Heard this one on radio.aol.com, and I have to admit it hooked me from the start. I picked up their CD and they sound really good. “Kill the Director” is supposedly their more-known song.

2. One for the Team - Best Supporting Actor

A song my friend Jake recommended me. In fact, recommended the entire CD. They’re a group from Minneapolis and I was going to buy their one-song on iTunes, but I was able to pick up their entire album from iTunes Plus (DRM-Free) for $5.99. A sweet deal. I still have to give them more playtime before I can make a decision but this song and “You Know Culture” have me so far.

3. MGMT - Time to Pretend

I swore I heard this song somewhere before. But hey, its awesome.

4. Dear & The Headlights - Talk About

I really liked Dear & The Headlights debut album Small Steps, Heavy Hooves and this song is off their most recent album out September 30th. Don’t quite know what to make of this song, but I thought I might as well post it because I am going to give it a chance. I have high hopes for this band.

5. Lily Allen covers The Kooks - Naive

I believe its pretty safe to say that the Kooks have hit the big time. I like the Kooks, but Lily Allen took one of their great songs and made it better, one reason being that its Lily Allen.

There you have it. Just a few songs I’m listening to. Now all I must do is ask that you return the favor. :-)

$20 million to stay retired?

That is the most retarded thing I’ve ever heard.  Up to this point, I didn’t care if Brett came back to the Packers or not, but the management has been acting like idiots.

What would you do if I sang out of tune?

without comments

You would be surprised at the number of times I open up my program to blog but never have the heart to hit post.

I don’t know what to say about 2008. Things have been up and down…or down and up? More girls seem to be getting interested in me more than ever, which is a definite plus. Tino and I have a good idea for a TV show for CBS conquer my hopelessness with women.

2008 Not So Great

without comments

2008 started with a bang, but really never started out great.

I won’t go into as much detail but some of the things I feel like talking about.

1. My car got a crack in the windshield. Possibly happened New Years day, as the next day I came out to the car to find it. Its not obtrusive as it is at the bottom, but I just hope cracks don’t get worse.

2. A girl I had a crush on now has a boyfriend. I shouldn’t be angry, as I we never talked to her. Her friends were/have been trying to get me to hook up with one of her friends, and what are you supposed to do in that situation?

3. My debit card has quite working today. No clue what the deal is. Everywhere I try it it says “ineligible transaction”…what the hell does that mean? Its as if the card was a fake. I will have to talk to my bank clearly.

4. No good music. Probably not a big deal, but “depressive thoughts” often to lead to over-generalizations. I put out a plea for good music but people seem to only recommend Top 40 corporate music. I want my indie rock!

5. I was peed on.

Here’s to not giving up!

Chris Chambers

without comments

I am going to a Vikings/Chargers game this Sunday and I think I will root for the Chargers. No bad blood with the Vikings really, but the Chargers have Chris Chambers. I’ve been a fan of his since he was drafted on my Cassville Comets team in Madden 06. I just found out yesterday he played football in Wisconsin.

I am trying to create a sign to show during the game. Perhaps a “touchdown phillip rivers /touchdown” in classic HTML, as a joke. No one will probably get it. I don’t even know where we are sitting.

Just a reminder, the 5th of november is few days away.

Pre-Re-De-Order

without comments

I found the latest Penny-Arcade comic to be particularly funny. I was quite ready to justify the humor in the comic-strip, arguing it to be the best written in a while. However, I realized that it was touching more on a personal level which could explain the bias. Dealing with pre-orders is particularly funny, and often time items are just so popular that they are hard to keep in stock. This sometimes perplexes the customer when they look to purchase the item.

I am sitting in the Acoustic Cafe enjoying a nice cup of tea and bumming off the free wireless internet. The internet seemed to be down at the house, typical, either HBC or Charter you can’t get a damn reliably connection in Winona.
